Tuckahoe Planation | Richmond, VA

Michelle told me that when she and Kevin came to the Tuckahoe Plantation for a venue tour a year before their wedding, the leaves were brilliantly aglow with golden Fall colors. She looked around and knew that she wanted her wedding to be at this beautiful location and she secretly hoped that her Fall wedding would look the same. Of course, it’s Virginia and the seasons have a mind of their own here. Michelle could never have imagined that her wish would come true, that the rain that always comes in the Fall to knock the leaves off the trees would delay for a few extra weeks, and that her day would be just as golden and beautiful as the day she toured, booked, and buried the bourbon as is tradition for good luck. Maybe it was the bourbon that did it.

From the bride…
”I’m a woodworker and build custom cabinets for an awesome local company and Kevin is the cutest bartender at a restaurant. When Kevin was working and I saw him for the first time I knew I needed him in my life. Soon after we started dating and have been together for 5 1/2 years. We knew less than a year in that we would be together for the rest of our lives and are stoked to get married! He proposed to me August 4th of last year which is his birthday! My grandfather that I was closest to passed on that day almost 10 years ago and as Kevin knows it’s always a difficult day for me. Just as my grandfather would have wanted, Kevin chose that day to make it an always happy day!

We picture our wedding day as starting with a nice, poignant but relatively short ceremony followed by lots of food, drink, dancing and camaraderie. We want this to be the most fun wedding our guests have ever been to.
