Q: What is required to reserve our elopement date and book Emma as our photographer? +
A. When you feel ready to book, I'll send you a contract to view and sign online. The signed contract plus a non-refundable retainer fee of 50% of the total invoice are required to secure your date.
Q: What are the payment options? +
A. I accept online checks as well as paper ones. Your invoice will give you the option to send a digital check for any/all of your payments, including the retainer. It's super easy, but some people prefer paper checks in the mail and that's okay too.
The standard payment plan that most of my clients use is 2 separate payments, including the retainer:
- 50% retainer, due at contract signing
- Remaining balance due 7 days before your elopement.
Don't worry - I always send reminders to keep you on track.
Q: What are the costs for travel? +
A: Elopements within an hour of Richmond and Hampton Roads, Virginia have zero travel costs. I give a custom quote for all other elopements within Virginia. Travel costs for elopements in NC or MD - $800. Destination elopements will be customized depending on the specifics of your location, however it’s generally 2 nights hotel and round trip flight out of ORF airport.
Q: How will our images be delievered? +
A: I send an online gallery for you to share with family and friends to view, share, and order prints from. From there you can download your high resolution jpeg files as a zip file. Depending on which collection you choose, you may also receive a thumb drive in the mail to serve as your official OFAC back up. I do ask to please not edit or modify your photos or use them for commercial purposes.
Q: How many images will we receive? +
A: I never limit the number of photos that I give. If it was a meaningful moment, I would never hold out on you just because your gallery was getting too large. For a three hour elopement, one could expect to receive 180-250 images, but a good rule of thumb is about 50 images/hour of shooting time.
Q: How long before we get to see our photos? +
A: Your online gallery will be up 12 weeks after your elopement. However, I always send sneak peeks that evening/wee hours of the morning after your elopement while I'm backing up all of my files.
Q: Can we add coverage time if we're having so much fun on the day that we don't want to miss anything? +
A: Absolutely! Sometimes things run a little long and staying a few extra minutes is necessary to capture a grand exit - and I won't charge you for that. However, if we stay over 20 minutes, I will give you the option to add on time and you will be invoiced for the additional time the day after the wedding. There's no official due date for the overtime hours, but no proofs will be posted until the overtime invoice has been paid in full. Additional time may be added at $450/hr.
Q: Do I need to order an album now or can I add one later? +
A: You can do both! Package upgrades are available anytime before the final payment is made.
Albums purchased after the elopement will be subject to current pricing.
Q: Do you need a shot list? +
A: Not really, nope. About a month before your elopement you’ll receive a questionnaire with everything I need to know about your plans for the day. If your parents or a few friends are present for your elopement ceremony and you'd like a handful of posed photos with them - the questionnaire is the time to let me know that information. We can always do it on the fly the day of, too - if you think you won't want those photos and change your mind. As part of the questionnaire, I do ask about things that are special that you'd like photographed - perhaps a piece of lace sewn from your mother's wedding dress sewn into yours - anything that is really special to your heart that you'd like a photo of so that we ensure it doesn't get accidentally overlooked. Otherwise, I photograph moments as they happen and as the day comes.
Q: How much time do we need for our elopement? +
A: I love collaborating on timelines with my couples. Basically, we talk about how you want to spend your day, the kinds of photos you'd like to take with your partner, your family (if they're present), epic dance parties on the bed in your hotel room or airbnb with champagne, and/or after late night campfires with hot chocolate or cider with the stars shining bright above you. Any time that we spend together is about you - and this day - getting to spend it intentionally however you want. Adding hours on to your day is not about posing. The camera is there to capture you and your day - not the other way around.
