I’m so glad you’re here.

First things first.

I always think choosing a photographer is an important decision, but for elopements even more so. Elopements have so few people involved that it’s a big decision who you choose to be with you that day. They need to fit seamlessly into the vision that you have, how you want the day to feel.. I want you to feel like your natural selves so that we capture moments that are 100% you. Then we can create photos that remind you why you fell in love, why you’re here on this day with vows in your hand and forever in your heart, and why you want to keep trekking into this new life together.

My goal is to help you take moments for yourselves, close your eyes and be present in love so that we have the space to tell this greater story of today and tomorrow and all the days after.

To serve you in this way, we have to go a bit beyond the typical client/photographer relationship. I want to get to know you both as people and as a couple. So get ready to tell me all your favorite things, about your pets and your favorite foods, what makes your spirit feel alive, what makes your heart keep beating. I promise it won’t be painful and on the day of your wedding, we’ll be old friends.

ADD A SUPER 8 FILM

What is a Super 8 film?

I adore Super 8 films, especially for weddings and elopements. They’re already nostalgic and and so fun. These films are shot with real vintage super 8 movie cameras on film that gets sent into a lab, developed, scanned, and made into a digital product. They’re incredibly artistic in nature and full of a kind of magic that can hardly be described in words.

So what’s included?

- 3 to 5 minute film -

- edited and set to the perfect song -
(song licensing is included)

- raw, organic, fully documentary -

- raw film footage without music or sound -

- online link in HD to download your files -

Super 8 Film Pricing
(when added to your collection)

The price increase for each collection is a result of the number of film cartridges required to capture our time together.

Deb and James on their
elopement experience -

TheKnotPortfolio-38.jpg

My husband and I are so glad we found Emma. We’d like to think we’re more bohemian and wished for someone who would capture our union in a uniquely intimate way. Queue… Emma. There were many photographers to choose from. I conducted my research by scouring the internet, Instagram and wedding blogs. (I’m surprised Emma’s stuff hasn’t been picked up by Junebug Weddings.) I looked at everyone’s photos and read and re-read countless reviews. Of Fate and Chaos intrigued me and was most similar to an ideal I had in mind, a style that was more ethereal and national geographic worthy. Emma went above and beyond as a photographer. I can honestly say she helped make our dream a reality. I had wanted a very private, intimate ceremony and it wouldn’t have been possible without Emma. She literally married us. We were eloping in the mountains and Emma added lovely thoughtful touches, creating the most amazing bouquet and boutonniere for us, knowing my then - fiance and I had busy work and travel schedules and were eloping almost by the seat of our pants. Since we eloped at the top of a mountain, Emma even helped us arrange transportation up to the top (I had chosen a mermaid dress - not the wisest for a mountain-top elopement). She remains a friend to this day (even though I haven’t even been married a year yet). On top of Emma being such a consummate professional who goes above and beyond for her clients, her work speaks for itself. I am just so thrilled with our photos. The photographs are beyond what I could have hoped for. Everyone who’s seen our photos comments on how amazing our photos look. The location was beautiful, but the composition and the lighting and all the other photo stuff for which I don’t have the appropriate vocabulary were on point. I highly highly recommend Emma!” - Deb & James

FAQ & Answers
_____________

Q: What is required to reserve our elopement date and book Emma as our photographer? +

A. When you feel ready to book, I'll send you a contract to view and sign online. The signed contract plus a non-refundable retainer fee of 50% of the total invoice are required to secure your date.

Q: What are the payment options? +

A. I accept online checks as well as paper ones. Your invoice will give you the option to send a digital check for any/all of your payments, including the retainer. It's super easy, but some people prefer paper checks in the mail and that's okay too.

The standard payment plan that most of my clients use is 2 separate payments, including the retainer:

  1. 50% retainer, due at contract signing
  2. Remaining balance due 7 days before your elopement.

Don't worry - I always send reminders to keep you on track.

Q: What are the costs for travel? +

A: Elopements within an hour of Richmond and Hampton Roads, Virginia have zero travel costs. I give a custom quote for all other elopements within Virginia. Travel costs for elopements in NC or MD - $800. Destination elopements will be customized depending on the specifics of your location, however it’s generally 2 nights hotel and round trip flight out of ORF airport.

Q: How will our images be delievered? +

A: I send an online gallery for you to share with family and friends to view, share, and order prints from. From there you can download your high resolution jpeg files as a zip file. Depending on which collection you choose, you may also receive a thumb drive in the mail to serve as your official OFAC back up. I do ask to please not edit or modify your photos or use them for commercial purposes.

Q: How many images will we receive? +

A: I never limit the number of photos that I give. If it was a meaningful moment, I would never hold out on you just because your gallery was getting too large. For a three hour elopement, one could expect to receive 180-250 images, but a good rule of thumb is about 50 images/hour of shooting time.

Q: How long before we get to see our photos? +

A: Your online gallery will be up 12 weeks after your elopement. However, I always send sneak peeks that evening/wee hours of the morning after your elopement while I'm backing up all of my files.

Q: Can we add coverage time if we're having so much fun on the day that we don't want to miss anything? +

A: Absolutely! Sometimes things run a little long and staying a few extra minutes is necessary to capture a grand exit - and I won't charge you for that. However, if we stay over 20 minutes, I will give you the option to add on time and you will be invoiced for the additional time the day after the wedding. There's no official due date for the overtime hours, but no proofs will be posted until the overtime invoice has been paid in full. Additional time may be added at $450/hr.

Q: Do I need to order an album now or can I add one later? +

A: You can do both! Package upgrades are available anytime before the final payment is made.

Albums purchased after the elopement will be subject to current pricing.

Q: Do you need a shot list? +

A: Not really, nope. About a month before your elopement you’ll receive a questionnaire with everything I need to know about your plans for the day. If your parents or a few friends are present for your elopement ceremony and you'd like a handful of posed photos with them - the questionnaire is the time to let me know that information. We can always do it on the fly the day of, too - if you think you won't want those photos and change your mind. As part of the questionnaire, I do ask about things that are special that you'd like photographed - perhaps a piece of lace sewn from your mother's wedding dress sewn into yours - anything that is really special to your heart that you'd like a photo of so that we ensure it doesn't get accidentally overlooked. Otherwise, I photograph moments as they happen and as the day comes.

Q: How much time do we need for our elopement? +

A: I love collaborating on timelines with my couples. Basically, we talk about how you want to spend your day, the kinds of photos you'd like to take with your partner, your family (if they're present), epic dance parties on the bed in your hotel room or airbnb with champagne, and/or after late night campfires with hot chocolate or cider with the stars shining bright above you. Any time that we spend together is about you - and this day - getting to spend it intentionally however you want. Adding hours on to your day is not about posing. The camera is there to capture you and your day - not the other way around.

Thank you

—————

If you’ve made it all the way to the bottom (and you must have if you’re reading this), then I just want to tell you how humbled and grateful I am that you took the time to review all of this information.

Hopefully I’ve answered some questions that you might have had and if there are others that I can answer for you (list of animal rankings, what kind of bear is best, etc.), I’d be happy to answer any question you have.

Thank you so much again and let’s talk soon!
